How can I stop clothes from loosing their color when being washed? - can i use woolite on whites

I always use cold water, I use Woolite (dark blue bottle for clothes, a bottle of white for everything else). I note that some clothing is not the color of the lava, which as bright as ever. I'll do anything to destroy my clothes, but I do not know how the color has faded. I use Woolite and to all appearances, will not wash the color, but as I see it. What can I do to stop colors fade when I wash my clothes?
